Q: My program is running, but isn't playing music, or narration sounds. It doesn't stop at certain spots where I would expect it to pause, as if in "Fast Forward" mode. What should I do?

A: Apparently, your computer doesn't have QuickTime™ installed. A QuickTime installer is on the CD-ROM and is free to use. “Helping You Smile” should have automatically installed QuickTime when you first ran the CD-ROM. However, some computers may not launch the QuickTime installer automatically which may result in erratic playback and little or no sound or video. Make sure QuickTime is installed on your computer by using the QuickTime installer on the CD-ROM.

In some cases, downloading and installing the latest version of QuickTime may fix a number of problems. This is especially true with the newest versions of Windows, such as XP. Use the QuickTime installer on the CD-ROM, or visit QuickTime.com to check for the latest version and download it for free.

Q: “Helping You Smile” is running but it seems to hesitate and miss narrations and video at times.

A: This may be a result of two things:
  • 1. You are running several other applications on your computer which require memory allocation, thereby causing the hesitations. If this is the case, simply quit all other applications that are competing with the CD ROM for memory, then re-insert the CD to begin.
  • 2. You have an older, slower spinning CD-ROM. As long as the program is run from the slow CD-ROM drive you will see this behavior. To eliminate it, copy the contents of the CD onto your hard drive. The CD contents take up about 680 Megabytes of storage, so make sure you have enough room.

Q: I put the “Helping You Smile” CD in my CD-ROM drive and nothing happens.

A: The automatic start feature is not operating correctly. Try double-clicking on "My Computer" then double-click on your CD ROM drive icon (usually D drive) to start the CD.
